Lecture description
Wind energy installations offer forestry operations an attractive opportunity to diversify their income. By providing areas for wind turbines, long-term, predictable lease revenues are generated, independent of the timber market, weather risks, and global disruptions. At the same time, large parts of the forest area remain usable for forestry even during operations. The combination of sustainable energy production and stable additional income strengthens the economic resilience of the forestry operation and creates additional financial leeway for forest management, restructuring, and further climate adaptation. In addition, it strengthens rural, and especially forestry, infrastructure.
