Preventing Fraud When Using New Hotel Booking Services
- Review the legal framework posted on the broker's website.
- Do the documents sent to you by the agency/travel agency (booking reservation, booking confirmation) specifically refer to the accommodation you booked? If this is not the case, or if, for example, the hotel is mentioned but the confirmation is qualified in the text (e.g., “Hotel X or similar”), then it is possible that you may be accommodated at a different hotel.
- Do some research online to see if the company has good reviews or if there are any reports from dissatisfied customers online about problems or possible irregularities.
- Check the agent's website for reputable references, and if in doubt, contact them directly.
