Lecture description
The chamois is a species characteristic of the Alpine region and faces new challenges, including those posed by climate change. Rising temperatures are altering snow conditions, vegetation growth, and the suitability of its habitats. At the same time, mountain forests must develop in a climate-resilient manner, regenerate in a diverse way, and fulfill their important protective functions. Added to this are hunting, tourism, and recreational use. How can we strike a balance between forest regeneration, sustainable hunting, and healthy wildlife populations? What practical approaches does modern wildlife management offer to ensure a harmonious coexistence between forests, wildlife, and people?
