Lecture description
The chamois is a characteristic wild species of the Alpine region and is facing new challenges, partly due to climate change. Rising temperatures are changing snow conditions, vegetation development, and the suitability of their habitats. At the same time, mountain forests need to develop in a climate-resilient way, regenerate in diverse ways, and fulfill their important protective functions. On top of that, there's hunting as well as tourism and recreational use. How can we balance forest regeneration, sustainable hunting, and healthy wildlife populations? What practical approaches does modern wildlife management offer for a balanced coexistence of forest, wildlife, and people?
