Compact forestry crawlers and soil protection in focus

Lecture description
The impact of compact forestry crawlers on soil is currently under discussion in the context of forest certification guidelines regarding machine traffic in forest operations. The University of Göttingen conducted dynamic measurements of soil stress distribution under typical load conditions in collaboration with PEFC Germany and three compact forestry crawler manufacturers. This lecture presents the key results of these measurements and discusses which conclusions can be drawn for minimized soil disturbance when using compact forestry crawlers.
